Unbreakable Tights

In theory, tights are the closet staples that keep your legs warm and look great. Unfortunately, in practice, they stretch and rip within a few wears. Not only are they expensive to replace, but they also add a lot of waste to our landfills.
The Problem With Pantyhose That Rip
One start-up in San Francisco is on a mission to change the way we think about pantyhose with its revolutionary product called Sheertex. It's not the first company to come up with a "rip-proof" pair of tights, but Sheertex claims it's the world's first indestructible pantyhose that is also eco-friendly and long-lasting.
The Sheertex tights are made with a proprietary fiber that has been engineered to be super strong and durable, while also being sheer so they're less prone to ripping. They're also designed to be anti-microbial, which helps to keep your skin healthy and prevent the spread of bacteria.
How They're Different
The main distinguisher between Sheertex tights and your standard pantyhose is the fiber they use, which is measured in denier. Denier is a measurement of the thickness of the fabric, and as you'd expect, hosiery fibers that are thicker and more opaque are less prone to tearing than those that are thinner and more sheer.
Sheerly Genius’s proprietary fiber is made from a ballistic-grade polymer that's up to ten times stronger than steel, and it's a combination of nylon and elastene. Unlike pantyhose, Sheerly tights are also extremely comfortable and breathable, which means you can wear them all day without getting too hot.
They're available in a range of styles from plain nudes to multi-packs with polka dots and seams, making them perfect for any style or occasion. They're also hand-washable, which makes them easy to maintain and a good choice for those who are on the go or need something extra durable for their wardrobe.
Besides the aforementioned benefits, Sheertex's fiber is also antimicrobial, meaning it's resistant to fungi, mold and mildew. The company also tests its fabric for burst strength, abrasion resistance and yarn strength to ensure you're getting the most out of your Sheertex tights.
In Determining How Sheerly Tights Will Hold Up
There's no real way to tell how your Sheerly tights will hold up in the wild, but they did a pretty amazing job in my testing. I stomped on them as hard as I could, scraped them against prickly hedges, ran my nails over them and even tried to pull at them with acrylic coffin nails.
The results were quite surprising. Not only did they hold up well to all of the aforementioned abuse, but they didn't even tear. The only thing I had to do was massage the threads back into place and they looked like new again.
Sheerly's tights aren't cheap, but they're worth the investment for anyone who wants to save money in the long run and don't want to worry about replacing their pantyhose every few wears. And they're also an eco-friendly option, especially when you consider the fact that more than 2 billion pairs of pantyhose end up in our landfills each year.
